The SSL (TLS) protocol is the security backbone of the Internet, but surprisingly little is known about how it is deployed in real life. This session will present the results of the first publicly available survey aimed at assessing the state of SSL on the Internet. It will also provide documentation and free tools to test and improve the configuration of SSL servers.

Ivan Ristić, Director of Engineering, Qualys, Inc.
Ivan Ristić is Director of Engineering at Qualys, where he is in charge of the WAF product line. He is a respected security expert and author, known especially for his contribution to the web application firewall field and the development of ModSecurity, the open source web application firewall. He is also the author of Apache Security, a comprehensive security guide for the Apache web server, and ModSecurity Handbook. He founded SSL Labs, a research effort focused on the analysis of the real-life usage of SSL and the related technologies. Ivan is a member of the Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP), and an officer of the Web Application Security Consortium (WASC).
